derby days
by: uhno one is going to even try next year when derby days is so clearly rigged... its embarrassing how much sigma chi sucked up to alpha phi this week and was blatantly rude to other sororities who ALSO raised a lot of money they didnt even announce other rankings or give total numbers to other sororities its just rude

Idk how/why you think it's rigged... I'm not in Alpha Phi, but to say it was rigged takes away from all they did and all the work all of us did last week. Alpha Phi had good participation, raised tons of money and did well at the events all week. I think the week was a success, and it clearly was because they raised the most money any greek life organization ever has at Depaul.

I disagree about it being rigged, but I do think that they kissed Alpha Phi's ass a bit that week. Alpha Phi really did a great job with their dance and had some amazing participation. However, some of the comments the judges made did kind of make it seem like it was in Alpha Phi's favor. I think that maybe instead of changing the way they did the points for snap a sig during the week, they should have just kept that in mind for next year.
It could have been better, but it also could have been a lot worse. Look at the backlash that the Ole Miss chapter of Sigma Chi got from comments their announcer made. (Nicknamed a girl BJ, asked what type of sausage they'd prefer: linked or sigma chi)

As I said in my (idk) comment, I think that Alpha Phi did a great job the entire week, they had great participaton, and an amazing dance. But, I also think that there were a few missteps with the event, such as changing things like Snap-A-Sig and how the rest of the points mattered. Also, like I said, the judges made some comments that make people in other sororities pause, because well, they were kind of shady. Alpha Phi was what, the 4th or 5th to compete? The judges had nothing that great to say about the dances before that, and then they're all about Alpha Phi's.
We're allowed to have a difference in opinion, especially when we look at it in different ways. to some of us, it's not being salty, it's trying to point out something we think is unfair.
But yes, you're right, Sigma Chi raised a lot of money for Huntsman Cancer Institue and that's what really matters at the end of the day. :)
#5 by: Its not about winning
It's a shame that theres so much negativity surrounding an event that was intended to raise money for such a great cause. The whole point of derby days is to support the Huntsman Cancer Institute and come together as a greek community to do something good. While winning may a part of derby days, it's not the whole point. At the end of the day, all the sororities and Sigma Chi did something positive and raised a lot of money. To say it was rigged really takes away from Sigma Chi's philanthropy as a whole and discredits the work Alpha Phi did. While the judges did really like Alpha Phi, they did raise the most money so it makes sense that they won.
