HONEST sorority ranks WITH EXPLANATIONS

by: Candor

No order within tiers because it comes down to vibe preference.

TOP: Aphi and DG
- Aphi and DG have been top for a while. This won’t change unless something crazy happens. People thought Aphi losing their house would make them less popular, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
- Aphi and DG usually go after similar girls and are a top choice for lots of PNMs, so they are more competitive to get into. However, it is not uncommon for girls who have Aphi/Gphi on pref to go Gphi and girls who have DG/DZ to go DZ
- These houses are generally known for loving to party and being hot (which gets them some hate). They are not as big on philanthropy, grades, and sisterhood as some other sororities.
- DG is more relaxed and less stereotypical sorority than Aphi. Aphi has a reputation of being really judgmental, so girls rushing tend to feel either at home or unwelcome in Aphi.

MIDDLE: Gphi and DZ
- Gphi used to be considered a higher rank than DZ, but they are now pretty equal. Recently, GPhi has had some troubles with retention rate and DZ has grown in popularity due to their successful philanthropy.
- These sororities have a lot of the same values, especially grades and campus involvement. They go back and forth for best GPA on campus, are involved in pretty much every campus org, and are generally well liked.
- Gphi’s upperclassmen are super cliquey, so they haven’t been known for having a great sisterhood. Lower classmen may be changing that dynamic though. DZ’s main problem is that they have all kinds of girls, so it can be hard for PNMs to envision themselves in the chapter. However, active DZs love their chapter and its members.
- These chapters compete for a LOT of the same girls. Gphi more outdoorsy and easy going, but DZ has a stronger sisterhood and philanthropy.

LOWER MIDDLE: ChiO
- ChiO has worked to separate itself from the lower tier. They go hard at Greek life events and invest a lot in their sisterhood. They are still not a top choice for most girls, but they are not a worst case scenario.
- ChiOs really love their sorority. They have a super strong sense of sisterhood and are well liked on campus.
- However, because they know they are still not a top sorority, a lot of girls are try-hards which can turn off girls who want a more relaxed sorority. Most of these girls are super invested in ChiO, and it becomes one of the main things they do on campus (not necessarily a bad thing)
- I don’t know if they will reach the middle tier, because they have bad luck in recruitment with most PNMs wanting the top 4 houses. That said, it is a great chapter to be a part of.

BOTTOM: TriDelt
- TriDelt is stuck in the cycle of a bottom sorority; they have a mix of girls who really love their chapter and girls who don’t want to be in TriDelt but want the sorority experience.
- This makes for a weird vibe in the chapter. Some members are investing everything in the chapter to make it better and other members are not investing anything because they are afraid to be proud members.
- Because they are the bottom chapter at a school where Greek life is generally small and not that big of a deal, they will probably never have a strong recruitment. Even so, their invested members get really invested and represent the chapter well at Greek events.
- TriDelt is also a really strong chapter nationally, so it gets a lot amount of resources from their nationals, has a cool philanthropy, and a strong alumni network.
