living in a sorority house at csun?

by:

I've been searching the internet for hours trying to find information on living in a sorority house at CSUN. I know that the houses aren't affiliated with the school so I'm assuming that's why I can't find anything about them. Does anybody mind telling me what it's like to live in the house, how much it costs, and if transfers are allowed to live there? Some schools have like a priority waitlist to live in the house so as a junior transfer...I hope my chances aren't slim to none. thanks! :)

And you ask because you are writing an online blog piece on this campus and its fraternal groups? If you really needed to know you would, we won't just TELL you. We want that information to remain PRIVATE so no creepy stalkers come around bothering our students. Think Ted Bundy and have a better day tomorrow.

wanting to remain private is totally fine, I get it. That's all that needs to be said. There is no need to be rude. Sororities at other schools have set policies and other information about their houses online so I did not think it was a secret thing. Thank you for clearing that up though. Have a nice day :)

The Greek system at CSUN is different than other schools such as the UC's or schools with a large greek presence. It is not traditional where you get to live with everyone in one big house, and there are no requirements to live with any of your sorority sisters. It is more on a friend to friend basis where you choose to rent out a place together like any other person at the school. Yearly costs for a PHC sorority will range from $1000-1900 a year, which may or may not include costs for shirts, events, etc.

Thank you, " :) "
I didn't get much of a chance to check out CSUN's student life before accepting my admissions offer because I was visiting a few non-local schools I was accepted into as well. The only sororities I actually got to interact with were at SDSU and it seems like a totally different experience at each school so things can get kind of confusing :( Thanks for the information! I can't wait for recruitment!

Living at a sorority house is a lot of fun! There are some rules you need to follow but for the most part it's pretty chill. I love living at mine, all my sisters are super sweet and are amazing roommates. I think pricing depends on the house. I know DZ is the most affordable!

i would say save around $700-800 the first semester ! i know lots of sororities do payment plans so dont worry about that. and i know it gets cheaper by semester so it wont always be this expensive :)

thank you all for the information! :) I really appreciate it! It's nice to know that there will be more good people in the system than those who are not so kind (at least I hope so.) I'm pretty sure that the rude comments were from trolls. I try not to take the harsh things on the site too seriously because I wanna remain neutral throughout recruitment and get a sense of the chapters for myself :)
does anybody know when registration for recruitment starts and if I need a headshot? Sorry for all of the questions, the CSUN NPC website just seems like it hasn't been updated in a while. Thanks again! :)

Are you thinking that right after you pledge you can move in? That isn't how it works.

No, not at all. Some schools require that you live in the house at a certain point as a sophomore, junior, or senior depending on when you pledge so I'm just trying to get information on policies and costs so that if I am required to or if I have an opportunity to, I will have the funds to do so. To be quite honest, I probably would not live in the house if it is not required but I am open to the idea if it is a possibility at some point in my time at CSUN.
