honest description of sororities

by: be kind!

my honest view on sororities after going through recruitment, dropping (i couldn't afford the dues), and seeing my friends in it. unbiased!

dg - honestly everyone makes them sound super exclusive but some of the girls i know in it are the kindest people i've ever met. they have a lot of girls from everywhere and are super diverse (similar to what the other post said about them being a motley crew). they are so sweet and you can definitely see them making extra effort to be inclusive this year.
theta - more typical "american" girls, sweet and pretty, though i know a few catty/superficial girls in this sorority, i also know some super sweet girls. i think this is just luck of the draw, in a chapter full of so many people there just will be some you vibe with and some you don't, so don't worry about that. these girls are mostly very smart and career-motivated (and they know it!! hell yeah!).
sdt - i loved sdt and it was one of my top choices. the girls here were very very sweet and bubbly and open, not focused on wealth or outer judgments at all. definitely where a lot of girls wanted to be; HOWEVER, there was a recent scandal involving racism and a lot of members dropping (i'm not too sure what happened), it is worth looking into i think since diversity, race, etc. are all a very important part of choosing your sisterhood
axo - i feel so bad for judging axo based on greekrank. a lot of my bestest friends are in axo and absolutely love it, they are not mean/catty/superficial at all. to me, they were more the average all-american girl types and the most diverse, super chill with each other and a little more of a southern vibe? very very diverse. that being said, i met one or two girls i just thought were horrible and met the "Greekrank standard" but again, i think it was just luck of the draw and i was being unfair and judgy. the girls i know in axo are great.
gamma phi - they are so so so so sweet! when i met them i knew they truly all just vibed with each other and made an extra note to be kind to everyone, treat everyone with respect, etc. very 2012 flower hipster cute tumblr girl vibes.
aopi - a lot of my good friends are in aopi, they are super sweet (honestly really wealthy as well, tho this could be a coincidence). not in a sorority for "clout" or anything, mostly genuinely so so happy w their sisters.

i know people tend not to choose aopi and gamma phi because they don't have a house, but since we're online maybe consider that? i know as someone who has gone thru recruitment its easy to get caught up in that, but maybe doing it in a pandemic can give everyone a new opinion and have grace. i promise this is an unbiased opinion since i am not rushing again, and i have no personal leanings. i am just hoping to calm the fears of younger girls as i know a post like this would definitely make me feel better back when i was rushing. ik it sounds cheesy, but dont feel pressured to pick based on greekrank.
best of luck!

Why would someone who rushed a year ago and dropped out be lurking on Greekrank a whole year later and writing thorough reviews for each sorority...
