what’s rush like at columbia?

hi! i’m going to be a freshman this year and i was wondering what rush is like at columbia? like should i get rec letters? also, if you’re really interested in certain houses, is there anything you can do to get on their radar or anything like that? i’m from the south so all i know ab rush is from big sec schools.

Rush here isn't like in the SEC at all. It's much more relaxed and you don't need rec letters.

Overall, the chapters here are much more similar than they are different. Chapter "ranking" here doesn't matter as much as it does in the South. And all the houses have nice girls in them.

For rush, honestly just be yourself.

Sororities will probably have virtual events this fall, go to them and try and get to know the girls! You don’t really need to get on anyone’s radar, rush doesn’t work like that here at least in my experience :)
