can sororities be more transparent?
by: JustsouyouknowI read the last post on here and I genuinely don't want some sort of catty argument between the "top" and "bottom" houses, but can we have a general consensus that sororities need to be more transparent about the recruitment process? It is wrong to fuel hope and expectations into women who genuinely believed they had a chance to get into theta/dg after the first round as there is already a predetermined list of girls who are either from one socioeconomic background or have connections in theta/dg. There is no way that a PNM is judged on a brief 10 minute talk to determine whether she "fits" in. TBH, I also went through recruitment this year and I dropped before development day realizing how I genuinely felt a connection between the dg girls and did not even get invited for the second round. I don't have an instagram account and don't ever use facebook so I had no idea how important social media is for this process. I just really connected well with the two girls I spoke to at DG and trust me, I had no idea they were the "top" house until after talking to some other PNMs.

Hopefully, panhel sees the frustration and does something about this for next round of rush in 2020. I have a friend in theta and two in dg and both of them are incredibly passionate women and love being a part of their organization. This forum shouldn't be about pitting women against each other. Rather, let's acknowledge that there is no way someone like me (without the necessary social media following and on financial aid) could get a bid from these top houses and after knowing this, I know I don't want to be a part of an organization that lacks transparency and diversity.

Also, in terms of transparency I want to note that a LOT of people are in ur shoes where they find the dg/theta girls the most likable. You should try and keep in mind that these sororities drawn in really pretty/bubbly girls who are either really nice or know how to be super fake. Hours and hours of work goes into picking which girls are going to speak with which pnms, and even if you don’t have a chance, dg/theta still want everyone to leave the recruitment room wanting to join their sorority. The girls that ended up getting a bid also felt just as much a connection to the girls they spoke to- the girl you spoke to has literally been handpicked so you would really like her, just like every other pnm’s girl was

that's definitely true. I heard that the more awkward members of those sororities are encouraged to be rho gammas so they don't interact with the pnms. They care a lot about what you think about them even if they cut you. Status > sisterhood
