can someone from dg reply to this? is this true that only social media and wealth/legacy count? how is this even a thing at such a diverse school like columbia? I was going to rush next year but after all this haste, i dont think there's any point

okay first of all anyone can identify as a member of dg on an anonymous site plus no one in dg would ever say they prioritize this stuff bc it would make them look bad while saying they are in dg. Trust me they do. Anyone who made their sorority that you don’t think fits their mold has a distinct reason to be there. What that reason is varies by person but it tends to be one of those mentioned above. DG is one of the most popular sororities nationwide creating more legacies. they are required by their national chapter to take a certain amount of the legacies who rush. Everyone else is scouted by social media, connections, or they wear their cartier braclet to rush. Maybe 2-3 people a year get picked based on personality alone and good for them, but they probably have a good social media presence, are stunning, and/or used as tokens regardless. Also, why do you only care about dg? If you only care about one of the best sororities why are you surprised that they only care about the best girls in the rush class? This really goes both ways. If DG didnt recruit as aggressively as they do you wouldn’t care about them as much :)))))
