Some do, and some don't. Sororities can have a list of girls they might want, but bid promising is against the rules.

some sororities have lists of girls that have already signed up, but no one has lists just made out of the blue. also every sorority knows that its against the rules to bid promise, so if you've heard that's a thing, it probably hasn't happened in a a few years, or is just a few girls out of the whole sorority system making dumb decisions

Yes. Sisters can write recommendations about girls they know throughout the year to create a list information about girls rushing/that the sorority is interested in. This helps the sorority reach out to girls better and collect info. However, these recommendations can’t really help someone get in (but a bad one definitely means you’re cut). I think some people falsely construct these as promised bids when they’re very far from that.

yup, i was promised a bid from one of the top two houses. dont choose your sorority based on rank though! go with which one is right for you. Each one has a different vibe, so choose based on who you see yourself hanging out with and enjoying time with. all of the sororities here are great, you just need to find which one is right for you.

I wouldn’t bank on or assume that there’s a set list (bid promising is also against the rules). Last year, I got invited to events (at the houses) and became great friends with some amazing girls in two top houses. I was sure I was going to be invited back for the third round of parties in Spring 2018. I didn’t get invited back, and arguably, I was confused. But this just goes to say, don’t preference and just go into things with an open mind. You never know what may happen, and finding the right group of girls is the only thing that should really matter.
