I might be wrong about this (I'm a pnm) and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm curious about the answer too, but as far as I know no one gets cut from the whole thing here. My guess is that a lot of girls drop out of recruitment for one reason or another (can't afford dues, got cut from a certain house that she wanted, decided Greek life wasn't for her), and there's always the concern of being kicked out for breaking one of the rules. So the number would dwindle down between orientation and bid day. But again, idk anything officially.

about 30 people dropped before recruitment started, a lot of PNMs dropped after the first day or two, and there's a solid amount who withdraw from recruitment because they're late to parties/don't fill out pref forms. people do get cut by sororities from the recruitment process, but not a ton. each sorority ends up taking around 30-45 pnms, but the vast majority of people who make it to pref night get a bid. there's always some people who make it to pref night and don't get a bid the next day, but it's not that common. most people end up getting a bid.

every single sorority has a new member class of 42 women this year, which was quota for recruitment... barely any girls didn't get a bid, and a lot of people go into recruitment just to check it out and don't know if they'll actually take a bid... sometimes women are late, sometimes they drop because they got dropped from the only chapter they really saw themselves in, sometimes they drop cause they realise Greek life isn't for them, and sometimes they drop because they're overwhelmed/exhausted/tired/sick/whatever! but, if you stick it out to pref night and put both sororities you went to on the last night on your mraba, you likely got a bid

Quota is dependent on the number of women left at preference. It is the number of women who attend one preference party divided by the number of sororities, give or take a few dependent on quota additions. If there are 1200 PNMs who attend preference, then quota will be 200. If only 120 women attend at least one preference party, then quota is 20. This notion that there's a predetermined quota is incorrect.

If you attend all the parties you are invited to and list all the sororities you attended a pref for, you are guaranteed a bid. If you don't list one of the sororities you attended preference parties for, you are out of luck if you're not high enough high enough on their bid list.

Very very very few women are completely dropped during recruitment. Most of those who don't receive a bid drop because they don't like the choices they have left or don't list both sororities after preference.
