I am a member of another sorority on campus and my best friend is in AOII. She loves it and always introduces me to her sisters, who are some of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met. I've truly never seen a group of women (outside of my own organization obviously!) who cares about each other so much and has so much fun together. While not for everyone, the women who seen to thrive in AOII are women who really appreciate what sisterhood means and see a sorority as a way to uplift each other. My best friend is always talking about how selfless they are, and I think that's true. I wish I could opt out of the tier system on Greekrank because it's dumb, but basically I think you should consider AOII if you really value kindness, inclusivity, and the support of other women.

overall a group of kind and genuine girls. although a significant amount disaffiliated, most of them never came to things anyway or left for reasons other than the sorority itself. i've loved all of the aoiis I've met and their new exec board is dope

My sister, who is a senior, introduced me to one of her friends who is AOII and I LOVE HER. She is so funny and nice, and she is helping figure out the whole finance world situation. I'm not sure where I want to end up yet, as I don't know the other sororities that well, but I love AOII.

The girls from AOII seem like they really do have fun together but are not exclusive within themselves. They know how to have a good time and always carry themselves with confidence. It feels like in any setting I will inevitably meet an AOII because they are so involved on Barnard and Columbia's campus.

The dissolution of this chapter has honestly been so sad. They have never been a social sorority or had particularly good mixers/reputation but up until this year, it seemed like they had a good sisterhood. The combination of having little social life, the most expensive dues on campus, bad leadership and general backstabbing really did this group in. This year almost a third of the chapter disaffiliated in the fall, and there are certainly more to come in the spring. Sad to see a sorority that prided itself on inclusivity instead of superficiality succeed at neither. Don't blame the 30 plus women (and almost all the women of color) who left.

Could not have said it any better. Thank you. As for the organization itself, please take some time to acknowledge these issues and try to fix them. Stop blaming the girls who left for being cowardly and not sticking up for an organization that is falling apart when leadership doesn’t want to address the issues plaguing it. It was stated by executive board members that they knew beforehand who would leave. If this were the actual case, it reflects poorly on you to recruit women who you wouldn’t think would feel welcomed and included. Who wants to be in an organization that adds stress and takes up so much time from one’s already stressful and busy life? Fix your social life, financial mismanagement, and most importantly, fix your attitude.

Based off of the girls who disaffiliated and the ones who are left, it seems as if the generally less traditional sorority type you are, the better you will fit in with this group. The weirder, anti-social girls thrive in this organization while the more social ones tend to have less great of a time. The weird ones are culty and aren’t as inviting toward the others. Overall strange dynamic that makes weirdos think they’re cool while making the normal ones feel left out.

I honestly just really like them. They're very fun and goofy whenever I see them out together, and they don't take themselves seriously like some sororities. They just seem like they have a good time with their sisters and are really in it for each other. I'm excited to see who ends up in their new pledge class since their PC last year was probably the best they've ever had!
