i messed up
by: Sophomore PNMI will be going through recruitment next month as a sophomore. I went through last year and dropped out the morning of pref because I didn't have "top houses" on my schedule for the last day. The awful truth is that these "top houses" weren't even my favorites. I wasn't being true to myself, and was only concerned about being in a so called popular house, mainly because I had attached so much valua to what I had read on this sight. If I had been true to myself I would have possibly accepted to a bid to a "middle tier" house which I actually really liked and felt comfortable at all week long. I am now facing rush as a sophomore, which I hear is a lot more competitive. I really do think that what everyone says about the system usually working the way that it's supposed to has a lot of truth to it. I can only hope that I will be lucky enough to receive a bid to one of a few favorite sororities of mine. None of these 3 sororities are so called "top tier" and I couldn't care less. Go where you feel comfortable. Choose the houses that you go back to based on what you like, not on what people on this sight tell you that you're supposed to like. Some of the houses that are ripped apart the most on here seem to have to nicest, most involved, friendliest girls on campus. By reading many of the comments on here, and being a student on this campus, I can honestly say that the only reason people pick apart houses so viciously is because they feel threatened by them on some level.

It's so exciting to see girls realize that it's about where you are happy, not where other people are happy to see you.
When you get back to the houses you truly loved last year be sure to let them know how happy you are to be back and have a second chance to be apart of their sisterhood. It'll leave in impression on the girl you are talking to!
