Yes I was a legacy to a top house from out of state and was dropped. My mom was devastated, this happens to a lot of oos legacies. :(

I am glad I am not the only one. I was a triple legacy from out of state that was dropped after Philanthropy round

Yes…legacy to a top house here, and cut before pref when I rushed.
After being told I was in, and after being told which specific room in the zouse is the one we’d room together in. I was also told how good of a fit I’d be on the recruitment committee for the next year.
It’s fine…I got over it, but wow it stung trying to act happy about what I had left on pref.

Unfortunately it happens a lot. If houses took all their legacies it would fill some of their entire new member classes, esp for the top houses.

Many sororities are no longer allowed to consider legacy status since it tends to exclude underrepresented populations.

They would never EVER drop a UofA legacy of their house especially not a double or triple legacy. But if you’re from oos they will sacrifice your legacy standing to open a spot for their friend. And that’s THE TRUTH and yes it stings BAD and yes you & mom will be sad but I promise follow through with rush and find your own Greek path and you’ll be glad you did.

Maybe that was the case years ago, but U of A legacies are dropped every year.

The reduced focus on any-and-all legacies is honestly a bit liberating. A girl shouldn’t feel obligated in any way to be in their mom’s sorority.

Kappa and Chi O are the big two here with the legacy mentality, where many alumni moms raise their daughters to want that house. These are the same moms who cheered in high school (or danced, or did pageants) so of course daughter should want to do the same thing. It reeks of moms living vicariously through their kids.

Many Arkansas girls want to follow their own path even if it means not going to their legacy house, and normal mothers are beyond okay with this.

I agree a double or triple XO or Kappa U of A legacy would not be dropped. Maybe in newer houses U of A legacies get dropped but these two live breath like mother like daughter mentality.

The national hqs might say that they can't consider legacy status but they do anyway,

Yall don’t get too discouraged about being dropped as a legacy, many chapters had to stop taking as many legacies because they were basically exclusively taking legacies and people got mad. I know that doesn’t help your situation but I thought i’d explain why it tends to happen :/

the crazy triple legacy people won’t tell you this but all sororities are doing the same things, their traditions just have slight variations. It’s more about the girls you are with at the time than the letters.
