Time to stop the cycle -pan love
by: It’s 2023 rush
Every year since I’ve rushed (senior now) Greek rank has become a place of toxicity and focused on ranks. Truth is, once you become older in college, it doesn’t matter. You’re in college to get a degree, and that’s the truth. There’s girls in every house who embody kindness, joy and love and there’s girls in every house that embody the opposite.
Going into rush with a mindset of I want this house because of so and so ideas, isn’t the mindset you want. Remember everyone is on their best behavior during recruitment. My unsolicited advice is how are the people you talking to you act, are they genuine towards you, do they make you feel like you belong and not just another body going through the process? Because after the excitement wears off, wouldn’t you rather be with girls who you feel share your outlooks and want to pour into you?
Every house on this campus is good ( and I absolutely mean this) Those who make these ranks are embodying shallow values, because Greek life isn’t about who’s in what house. It’s about supporting our philanthropy’s, and building lasting connections. I’m not dissing any house that is precived as a “top house” I know girls in those houses who are fantastic women. All I’m saying is go with how the houses make you feel rather than a status construct.
The open minded approach is something to keep in mind. You may have your heart set on one house, and that house may cut you, having an open minded approach helps make the process easier if you have a couple different houses in mind!
I also saw in an earlier post about that guys will not like you if you are in a certain chapter. Very false, if a frat boy/ boy cares that much about that, then he just wants to have a girl with “staus” for his own personal motivation.
