Worried about rush
by: OOS
I’m coming from out of state and know hardly anyone. I want to rush but am worried I won’t be offered a bid with the last post! Do many pnm not get any chance to join?
What can I do?
#2by: Don’t worry
Here’s the deal:
1. Most (not everyone but a huge majority) girls get a bid. In fact, in my years I’ve never heard of someone NOT getting a bid. Way more common is girls don’t get a bid from the one sorority they want so they drop.
2. Being OOS you just need to realize you prob won’t be in the Arkansas heavy/camp friend connections sororities. And that’s OKAY. In fact, it is honestly probably best because you prob don’t really want to join a sorority where everyone already knows each other. It’s way harder to make friends when everyone knows each other and you’re the new girl. The “top” sororities (meeting the ones that are hard to get into, not the best) are Arkansas/camp connections heavy. They continue to pull from girls they already know. Again, do you really want to be in that sorority? If yes, go for it but know you don’t have as great of a chance as a girl with connections.
3. Absolutely do not change anything about who you are for rush. Don’t go buy a Hermes bracelet and Golden Goose (I know they’re out now but whatever) to try to fit in. Because if the girls in a sorority like you for the outside then you aren’t really liked for you. Be WHO YOU REALLY ARE so you will be with people who really like you and who you feel comfortable with.
4. Making connections now — it’s worth it to follow all the sororities (ALL of them) to show interest but honestly any connections you make now are t going to be a huge factor in whether you get in or not.
