Tips I have For Freshmen in Sororities

by: New active

- it might take a while to make friends. i didn’t meet people i really connected with until my second semester. for some people this may take until work week almost a year later.
- you don’t need to find a date for every function. it’s way more fun to go with your friends than a guy you don’t know very well.
- make friends in the PC above you, even it’s it’s not your big. i love my friends in the grades about me, they’re like my second bigs.
- utilize the house! a lot of your dues go to upkeep of the house and having meals at the house so take advantage of it. i love studying and getting to know people whenever i’m at the house.
- if you can, schedule a class during chapter so you don’t have to go. chapter is boring and it sucks.
- a lot of the fun events that the sororities post are not events that everyone gets to go to. many of the sisterhood events, especially the ones off campus are very limited on the amount of members that can attend and you might even have to pay extra.
- also, a lot of the events that we have aren’t that fun. a lot of girls just take pictures and leave. moms day stuff is crowded and boring, philanthropy events are kind of awkward, and functions don’t get fun until 11-11:30 ish and normally they end at 1am.
i’ll probably add to this/ repost this fall xoxo

Yeah a lot of these are accurate!! But…

I would try to go to chapter as a freshman!! You can meet people this way and be apart of ritual.

You should NEVER have to pay extra for an event.. if you do then your house isn’t being honest about dues.

Philanthropy events can be fun if you make them fun! The money you raise is more important than you having fun anyways.

functions are fun if you get decently drüñk before! But don’t get overboard and throw up there bc you will be kicked out.

Very good advice! If you don’t find friends keep trying! It will get better when you’re a sophomore. You bond during recruitment. Functions can be boring ( because you can’t drink) and a lot of people dress up, take pics and stay maybe one hour. Still!!! Dress up, take pics and go for an hour!! You don’t get this time back.
Moms and Dads day are very overrated. I actually feel bad for the parents. All this money they pay in dues ( for those whose parents pay) and little money goes into mom and dads day.
Attend all the events you can ( paid or not) because you never know where you will meet your bestie!
