how does fraternity rush work in the fall?
by: ConfusedI'm going to uark starting this fall and see all this stuff on here about sororities and their rushing but nothing about fraternities. How does rush and pledging work for fraternities?

Basically there is pre-rush and formal rush, pre-rush comprises the bulk of rush and is what is most important in getting into the house you want. Most fraternity's hold summer rush events, and throw rush parties before formal rush begins. It's possible to get a bid to a good house and not be involved in pre-rush, but it is highly unlikely. Then there's formal rush which only lasts a few days and involves every rushee visiting every house, then the fraternity's make cuts, and the rushees cut houses if they have more than 6 remaining. Then the rushees visit there final 6 houses, and there's another round of cuts and each rushee chooses 3 houses(that didn't cut him) to go visit again. From there the rushee chooses one of the 3 remaining houses to preference, and all the fraternity's give out bid's. A bid is an invitation to pledge a fraternity, once you accept a bid you are a pledge to that fraternity. Most pledge-ships last around 10 weeks, and at the end they are initiated into the fraternity and made full members.

So if I accept a bid at a frat and then realize I might of made a wrong decision what options do I have.
