Chi o kinda sucks

by:

Being in chi o is actually so exhausting if you’re not from Arkansas and didn’t already know a bunch of people coming in. 10/10 would not recommend I wish I could transfer into a different sorority, I want to drop but I don’t think I should.

You’ll find your people. And be Greek with other friends in different chapters and non greek friends.

This is why I cut them before pref. Even if ended up in chi o by some fluke or an alum or however I even made it that far, I knew I would not be happy. It wasn’t worth it to me just to say I was in a difficult to get into house. Since bid day I can 100 percent say thank god! The girls I know are so cliquey and simply not like me.

Are you a NM? If so give it a chance. Certainly longer than a week.

Did you have connections or were you one of the few that you in without knowing people?

By: Hmm

well you can have connections in the form
of an alum. a lot of new members get in chi o because of alumni connections and do not know girls in house.

I understand that. I was just wondering if she had connections of any kind. Obviously she doesn’t feel connected, so I wouldn’t think her best friend or sister is an active.

I’m a sophomore, and I was one of the people that got in without any connections. I really wish I went to the other house I had on pref :( chi o is just so so cliquey

What are the pros and cons to dropping or not?
The pros to staying in is giving it a chance and seeing if you find your people. The house is huge and so is your PC (I’m assuming around 190?) so there must be others feeling the way you do.

Chi O is known for clique culture. One of the reasons it is “difficult” to get in to is because they all take their best friends/sisters/camp friends and all know each other.
That being said, not every single person knows someone. There must be a few other girls in your PC that you might be able to connect with.
If you’re really miserable then def quit. You don’t need them.

I’m a sophomore in chi omega and feel the same way. My freshman year, I was not invited to hang out with the other girls in my PC and also didn’t really click with anyone. I was the only person from my high school and surrounding area to go here so I had no one. During rush I felt like I made so many more friends, but once rush ended, I never heard from them again. It’s hard to make friends when everyone only says hey to you in the house but nothing outside of it. And then way exec just let’s it happen is horrible. My grades are terrible and I have no time anymore to peruse things I would like to do. Thinking about dropping honestly and the way some of these girls treat others is honestly horrible. Most of them think they are entitled because they have money and was spoon fed their whole life. I would say though if you are a new member this year stick it out one year, maybe two and see where it takes you.

This was really honest for you to share. A lot of people dream of being in a "top house." They ultimately judge their value as a person on the fact that they didn't get into Chi O or Kappa.. etc. But they negate to remember that it's not always a positive experience.

It's sad that we value status over good and loving friendships.
