No one is going to give you a straight answer. I was on my sorority’s team that pre ranked girls and I would give anyone with less than 3.5 a low score but this doesn’t mean they were cut it and it’s not how every house works.
In my opinion if you have less than a 3.5 HS GPA then you obviously weren’t trying that hard in HS

Less than a 3.5 and not trying- absurd!! We lose a lot of great girls that would be great assets to our house bc of these ridiculous grade requirements! If your grades are good enough to get into college then they should be good enough join a sorority!!

What if you took AP classes and you have an unweighted 3.5? I think that’s still a good GPA. Or if you went to a difficult private HS?

1. Arkansas will take anyone who is willing to pay their ridiculous tuition
2. You’re in college to LEARN, joining a sorority is your side gig. If you couldn’t get above a 3.5 in HS without the sorority I find it hard to believe you’re going to put much effort into college classes
3. If you can’t do well in AP classes stop taking them? If you GPA is low because of them then you probably didn’t get credit for the class anyway

I got a B in AP Bio and a 5 on the AP test. Stfu. Every school is different in terms of grade inflation and GPA calculation.

There is way too much emphasis on grades. I know one girl and her mom passed away her junior year and I know another great girl that had a learning disability. They were both cut because of grades!
So… I think your 3.5 gpa is great!

I agree that academics are why we are here and sororities are the side gig. Most importantly we look at grades as a measure of how someone is able to prioritize and use their time wisely. If you managed over a 3.5 while doing high school activities and community service then it is a good indicator you will be able to time manage your classes, homework, and the 50 million sorority events you are expected to attend.

A sorority is for sisterhood and philanthropies- so yes - it is a side gig so anyone should be able to join that wants to volunteer and be involved with sisterhood! If you manage to get through high school and get admitted to college - you can manage a sorority- grade requirements haven’t always been this high and the girls did just fine and graduated!

I know a girl who got kappa and she is ….. not smart. Bad grades in high school. But she’s pretty and rich, so….

Apparently she is doing fine in college and will graduate if she’s still enrolled! Obviously- smart enough! Once you graduate nobody cares about your grade in each class. They want to see the degree!

GPA is just a cut and dried way to make first round releases easy, because rush is too damn big and it goes too damn fast.

By: Easy cuts

Agree and it should be lowered!

If a house wants you badly enough they will let you in. GPA is just a vehicle to release people easily. Chi O, Kappa, Zeta, Pi Phi, and Tri Delt, etc. all took grade risks this year.
