chances of not getting my first choice?
by: PNMMy top choice bid promised me today and i’m so happy that they like me and want me to be in their chapter but is there a chance that it would that not work out??

Sorry they did that, but you may or may not see that house’s name on your bid day card tomorrow. I hope it goes well for you, but be prepared that it might not. The girl(s) you talked to I’m sure want you on the list, but they don’t make the final decision to be able to put you high enough in the bid list. Good luck!!!!

yeah of course there is. chapters want to stick to their first list so the shady ones will tell every girl they want them there to ensure everyone puts them first and they get exactly who they want. i mean if you preffed them they DO want you, but you could just as easily be on the list past quota cut off and get your second choice. absolutely no one can tell you the likelihood of that. but it happens every year. hope it doesn't happen to you because that chapter should never do that. something to keep in mind if you do get them: don't do that to pnms when it's your turn to rush. and if you don't get them: maybe that's a blessing in disguise if that's how they play it.

A lot of pnm's don't know what bid promising is. Telling you she really wants to see you tomorrow or she already thinks of you as a sister is not the same as saying YOU ARE GETTING A BID FROM US. It's a slippery slope and pnm's hear what they want to hear, actives who haven't rushed before screw up and word things wrong, it gets tricky.

That's not bid promising. A rooky move on the part of the girl rushing you, but it's absolutely not bid promising.

The 2022 recruitment rules state that:
“Oral bidding is forbidden during Formal Recruitment and during the summer prior to Recruitment in the Fall 2022 Semester and the days during formal Recruitment.
Examples: “I want you for my little sister.” “We have a place for you.”
“You will be on our bid list.”
“You’ll have your choice of sororities.” “You’ll make a great (sorority name).”
“See you tomorrow / later”
These statements or variations of these statements ARE NOT ALLOWED.”

Once/if you’re on the other side of things, you’ll understand how easy it is for “see you tomorrow” to slip out. If you thought this week as a PNM was tiring it’s just as tiring if not more tiring, being a member of a chapter during recruitment.

Correct it’s wrong but I had a girl say that to me two years ago. She did see me tomorrow only on a different lawn. She gave me hug, cried a little and we remained friends. Not close friends but I know she tried her best. I do not hold what she said against her at all. Being on the other side and seeing how emotionally and physically exhausting it is I think it just slipped out.

If you do get your second choice, go with it! These chapters are absolutely huge, and you will have such great opportunities and meet a ton of girls. I cried on bid day because I got my second choice, and I’m so glad I stayed. Everything worked out the way it should! I love my house.
