Recruitment is stupid

by:

I am a freshman PNM and am so over this. I count myself lucky to have 4 houses still, but I am thinking about dropping out. Many of my friends are in tears right now after being cut heavily. Sororities are supposed to empower women and lift them up, but this week instead leaves many previously strong, confident young women feeling inadequate because a bunch of 20 year old girls are judging them. don’t think I want to be Greek enough to put up with all this bull- - - -

I know you are hurt and I am trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but boy, is it hard. You are coming across as an entitled brat who is facing rejection for the first time and doesn’t know how to handle it. Lord help you when you apply for your first job out of college-abridged version, the hirer is in the driver’s seat. It’s not mutual then until you get a job offer. So, drop out of rush and teach us all a lesson, or embrace the houses that asked you back and find new favorites amongst them. Oh….and adjust your attitude.

Not cool to kick someone when they are down! How about we show some women supporting women here!

If you didn’t like her post, you could have scrolled on by, but you took time out of your day to be unsupportive of her situation.

I get what you were trying to say, but geez you could have said it a hundred different ways that sounded more supportive.

Your post sounds like you’re older (mom or alum) - you’re old enough to know to just be kind.

But, there are houses that want you! Even if it’s just two. Give them a chance!

Nothing can prepare a pnm for the cuts.

Undoubtedly you are a top pnm with strong qualities. Every active has gone thru this process too.

You cannot compare your recruitment with a friend’s- it will never make sense. It usually comes down to connections.

Wishing you the best.
