Honestly!!!!???

by:

I’m feeling so much pressure from my mom who is a legacy to be in a sorority. I really have no interest but I’m going though this process for her. Is it just making connections and building a “sisterhood”? What will I gain from this? I have so many life long friends who will start school here and I don’t feel like paying for extra friends. Will I be left out? Tell me the benefits please!

it is totally your decision. But you may see things differently if your lifelong friends are also going Greek? Not that Greeks are only friends w people in their house- but they will be really busy with their activities.
There are many ways to get involved on campus. Good luck with whatever you do.

You would be surprised how people change in college and grow apart. Your lifelong friends are going to get out there and meet new people and have new experiences. There is going to be a bit more space between all of you now. You may still all be friends through college and beyond, but it's going to be different. Take the opportunity in front of you right now, that you will never get back again, to test the waters and meet some 'extra' friends. You don't know what you don't know.

Try it out for at least the first round. If you realize being in a sorority isn’t for you, drop so you don’t take another girl’s spot.

If you aren’t feeling it, maybe you should just be honest and drop. It sounds like you already know it isn’t really for you — are you going to want to deal with all the rules and activities? If not then drop.

Uark is a difficult place to find your friends if not a part of Greek life. Try it for one year:)
