PNM with no connections

by: Nervous

I’ve been watching too many TikTok’s. I know everyone says don’t be nervous and just be yourself, but I AM nervous. I’m nervous about not getting a bid because I’m OOS and don’t have connections. I’ve followed all 11 sororities, am very open to any of them, and just want to find a good fit. But I keep seeing girls that got dropped completely — not who quit but who didn’t get a bid.

Eek.

I’m so nervous I’m practically peeing myself. I feel so violently sick about it tbh.
I’m almost in the opposite situation. I know of a lot of girls in my high school in sororities at Uark, but since we barely know each other, I don’t know if they’ll pull for me or tell their house to pass on me.
You are loved!!! We’re all nervous! It’ll be okay!!

Hey!!! I went through recruitment last year, I was out of state and had no in-house connections at all and I rushed a top house! Be yourself and stay positive, because they will be able to tell! You’ve got this, you would be an asset to so many chapters and they will see that!

Idk where you are seeing girls who got dropped completely, but remember that the few who did are more likely to be vocal about it on social media. Honestly, "I got completely dropped" is usually what girls who voluntarily dropped say on social media to garner sympathy and make it seem like rush is unfair, and even want to turn people anti-sorority because they are really resentful of how their rush went. This skews the perception. You know when you're really unhappy you're more likely to complain but when you're satisfied you have no reason to tell the world. We have no idea what happened to them because they aren't exactly always completely honest about it. They either have no self-awareness (a very BAD sorority fit) or they know exactly what the problem was and won't share it, or they just weren't prepared and didn't rush well. A few girls do fall through the cracks for not rushing well, but these are the very ones who can turn around and get a COB outside of the craziness of formal recruitment. So there is no way to know what their true situation is, and whatever, it doesn't apply to you or any other pnm's. Please be confident in yourself, and take it one party, one round, one house at a time. You've got this, really.

99% of the girls i’ve met that said they were “dropped” from recruitment really mean they were dropped by all the houses they wanted. one of the only girls i know who were dropped for real had a 2.9 and posted videos of her taking shots in mexico the summer before rush on her snapchat. not smart.
