Worried about my video
by: pnmHi so when i recorded my video i remember liking it, but rewatching it and the videos from other pnms (not everyone made the private) i’m second guessing it. My answers were good but i wasn’t as peppy as some of the other girls. How much will they matter?

This^^ too many videos to watch. Only watched if there were concerns about social media, it was private, or we couldn’t find it. Just trying to get a vibe, nothing too serious.

Honestly just depends. Personally I’m more reserved so when I see someone who’s way too bubbly I immediately think it’s fake. I hate the idea of making a video. It’s a dumb new change. Luckily I rushed in 2019 when it was in person. Yes first round cuts are typically grade based but there’s also cuts due to simply not clicking which you can tell sometimes right off the bat. That’s why In person is the best way to go. Don’t stress about it too much. I think everyone knows not to take these like 1 min videos too seriously. It’s impossible to get to know a girl based off that. Good luck!!

okay follow up question- what are first round cuts based on? I have good grades and involvement but no close connections. Rec letters for almost all of them (couldn’t find one for KD so I did the self-recommendation) and clean socials. Should I be terrified or will I be fine?

I’m not sure what all the houses look at first round, obviously I only know what my house looks at. I went through recruitment in 2020 and like this year their was no first round. I had over a 4.0 GPA, had college credits, was involved in high school and community service, but I didn’t have any close connections to any house. I got cut by all the top houses first round; never got to talk to any of them to try and make an impression. I ended up in a mid house and am very happy! Don’t stress about it, nothing you can do…just keep an open mind about all houses and you’ll be fine! If someone without connections is planning on a top house they are most likely going to have a rough week.

I'm definitely not planning on top houses. for one, ranking seems stupid because we're all adults, and making a hierarchy out of the clubs we're in is childish. However, I do want a chapter with smart, involved, and religious girls. I'm open to all of the houses but that's what I want in a sisterhood so I guess I'll cross my fingers that I'm not cut from tri delt and KD in the first round.
Just to clarify, I would absolutely be happy in any house, but I would rather be in one with a higher GPA
