Rushing with a sister in a sorority

Hi I am going to be rushing this fall and I have a sister currently in a sorority at uark. I really want to go into recruitment with an open mind and as my own person/I want a fair chance at ALL houses including the one she is in. Is there a way to make this known to the houses during rush week, should I mention I have a sister in a house, etc. I've been told by a lot of people you will get cut from a lot of houses if you have a sister in one and just wanted advice

^^^ I think what she means if your sister is a chi o and you really want pi phi good luck. It’s the risk / reward thing. They don’t need to risk you going chi o when there are plenty of other pnm’s that are a sure thing or close to it.

Don’t mention it. If the active you’re talking to knows your sister, let them bring her up.

They know. And if it’s chi o, you are already cut from the others.

this is true about chi o. my roommate was a legacy and she was cut by all the other top houses on the first day. she ended up not even really liking chi o. they released her right before pref.

Kappa is known for cutting PNMs with in house sisters. One family had the PNM go back through rush a second time. After increasing their donations to Kappa by a significant amount they allowed her to receive a bid.

it happens. zeta cut an in house sister in 2020. i know for a fact because she is in my sorority and i know her sister. if my house cut my sister i would quit. just saying….

Zeta and kappa cut in house sisters? That would never happen in my house! I know a girl that was a sister in a top house and another top house took her to pref she really loved the whole week. That would have been a huge embarrassment to her sister though so there’s that side of it too. What would your sister think if you pledged somewhere else?

It's not about her sister, it's HER rush and it's about HER. They are not clones.

I won’t lie it will effect your rush a little, but tell the girls you have an open mind! Although the sorority itself will know you have a sister in another house, the recruiter probably won’t, so don’t tell her or she might assume you’re going to follow your sister and score you lower. Let girls you talk to know that you’re interested in their sorority!!
