Initiation is a top secret thing just for members. No one is allowed to speak on it

I'm not a member, but here is what I have heard without going into too much detail, there is a part of initiation known as The Ordeal which includes a death/rebirth ritual. you lie down during this part of initiation while a song similar to a lullaby is sung. you are then claimed or proclaimed to be a daughter or something like that (?)

Which part is false? The coffin or the death/rebirth ritual?

If something like that makes you not want to be in house then you’re not meant to be there to begin with. That’s such a small part of the experience. Set your sights somewhere else.

I wouldn't say something like that is a small part of the experience. Initiation rituals are sacred, have remained unchanged for 100's of years, and are truly what binds members together. I don't think you can discount any house's rituals, as these represent the very core and the foundation of a chapter. Yes, Ritual is only part of the experience, but definitely not a small part of the experience.

Yes, something that any mom, alum or active member can agree on? Really, anyone who has been thru an initiation....

If this comment doesn’t reveal the truth, then I don’t know what does.

Yes, it’s true. Yes, they get in a coffin and come out “reborn” as chi o’s.
Sacred or not, girls talk. What’s the penalty for revealing secrets? Nothing.

I’m sure some chapters have a fake coffin or something to represent a coffin nowadays, but yes, they used to or still do in some chapters.

if you have "many close friends" that are XO why don't you ask THEM?

By: what?
by: yepJul 31, 2022 9:11:03 PM

yes, I would just ask them- sorority girls are notorious for spilling all their secrets after a couple of drinks.....
