1. I just wanted to let y'all know, sorority recruitment is not the end all be all of life's existence. There is so much more to the college experience and while being in a sisterhood is amazing, it is not necessary to be in one to enjoy your time at arkansas. With that being said, do not let the way your recruitment goes define you. You are loved, valued, and worthy, regardless of the house that you get a bid from.
2. As somebody who was once a pnm, rush goes differently for everyone. I'm not going to lie, it was hard for me to see people I know have a "perfect" rush, while I was getting dropped by the houses I wanted. But please do not be discouraged by how your week starts. Because first round cuts are usually the worst. I could not be happier with where I ended up, even though I had days where I was upset with my party list. Give EVERY house a chance. And please, please, do not compare yourself with other girls that are rushing. I struggled with this a lot during the week and it really tore me down. Every girl rushing has her own amazing qualities, but that doesn't take away from the fact that you are amazing too!
3. Be real. Seriously. Nothing good comes from pretending to be someone you are not. We as members can usually tell when somebody is putting up a front, and that is the last thing we want! We want you to be yourself. Show us how fun you are, what you are deeply passionate about, and all the little quirks you have. You are way more than your resume, and we want you to be candid with us. The best conversations I had during rush were about the most random things, but it really showed me who was actually interested in me, beyond the surface level.
4. Take the rankings on here with a grain of salt. Every single person has different opinions on where each house stands, but don't let that affect you. To be completely honest, ranks literally don't even matter on campus. And if someone is rude or judges you based off the house you are in, that shows you EXACTLY what type of person they are. Genuine friends and people could not care less about the letters you will wear. There will be girls that act like they are better than others because of the house they are in, but let their actions reflect on who they are, and not on their whole sorority.
5. Drop any questions you have! RUSH STARTS IN 18 DAYS!!! GET EXCITED :)))

Usually, it goes that the "top 4" know who they want for the most part, especially Chi O and Kappa, but if a girl blows them away, they still have a chance! I know many girls in the "top" houses that had no connections and they still got a bid. As far as the rest of the houses, all of them might have a handful of girls that they really want, but that probably only makes up around like 5% of the new pc, so those houses have plenty of room for any other pnm that they meet during recruitment, and weren't looking at before the week started. It's pretty unfortunate that some sororities already have their pc in mind way before rush even starts, but that is just how it goes.

Yes, chi o and Kappa have a list ready.
Pi Phi has a solid list ready, but more people have a chance to really impress them and squeeze in than the other two.
It’s hard to compete with legacies that have been around for years and years. Little sisters of current members…you just can’t compete with that even if you are fabulous.
Without there being a round 1, if you don’t have a strong connection already, you won’t have the opportunity to impress them.
It’s unfortunate, but part of it. Which is why they have the “better than you” attitudes.

Not this year. I do not believe any house has all 200 plus girls picked out! Maybe kappa because they do not like to actually have to work during recruitment but as for the other tops no. They will fall in love with girls during recruitment that they have not met yet!! They also adding girls right now based on resumes! Here are my thoughts on the other three!
Chi o - I believe they understand that picking girls from out of state is important for the future of chi o. Every year the number of out of state girls increase!
Zeta - per usual they love a fun, bubbly personality and if paired with the right girl during rush this house will be a possibility with no connections!
Pi phi - yes they were second to chi o in grades this semester but that will only spark their desire to find those amazing 4.0 involved girls ( even without connections) and give them a bid!

It all seems so random and I know “trust the process” but I’m not even going to meet 3% of the actives, and I have to depend on the few I meet to “want” me and how do you even get a feel for a house without getting to know people and this all just stresses me out!!!!

Every house overall has a specific vibe, but also has a wide variety of personalities, making it to where most girls could fit in at any house. It can feel random at times, but actives are doing their best to try to get to know you based on like 3 30 minute conversations, so it is difficult for us as well. I completely understand, it is super stressful and can feel unfair. But, during rush you will be paired with girls that are similar to you, and chances are if you get along with them, you already have many other members in the chapter you would fit in with as well! My PC has so many different types of girls, but there are usually a few common denominators that make us part of the same sorority and give us a certain "vibe". At the beginning of rush, I totally saw myself in a different house than what I am in, but now it makes so much sense for me to be where I'm at. And for the very small amount of girls who just ended up in the wrong house, there is nothing wrong with dropping if you don't enjoy it. :) So just stay open-minded and go with your gut!

Chi O and Kappa definitely have a list. Zeta and Pi Phi have a really solid idea of who they want. Tri Delt and KD know a few girls they want for sure and the rest of the houses are far more open. I promise your name isn’t sitting on some random house’s list right now, you will get your chance to show them your personality and meet the house!
