New houses are a need
by: ESo as we can see with the insane amount of pnms there needs to be more houses. 11 is not gonna cut it anymore. If there were new additions what srats do you think would join

Maybe the University needs to look at making admissions more selective. At this point it feels like a total money grab to let everyone in and then have them slowly fail out. We need at least two more houses as well. A pledge class of 180+ is not a good experience for the chapter or for the pnm. Girls will get lost in the shuffle and not have the support system that so many have relied on for years to get through Freshman year because there are just too many people to manage.

The university attracts top students from surrounding states and Arkansas. So their process has attracted bright students who had options and the pnm pool is full of smart, diverse driven students. It is good although challenging to keep up with the growth. AGD was set to colonize the year of the pandemic. It would have been difficult to start strong.

No- I didn’t mean to infer that the school throttled admissions to enrich Greek life. Not sure how you could get that. But Greek life is enriched by the smart, involved pnms that chose Arkansas over their other options. Does that not make sense?

We need one or two strong NPC groups with big bucks to be able to get a house quickly. And with that, space is limited in terms of campus real estate. Maybe Theta, Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi? We can’t maintain in this type of growth with just 11 NPC chapters. Chapter size will probably be over 500!

I’ve always been the first to say that Theta should be next chapter, and here’s why:
Theta is huge and considered “top” at most Texas and Oklahoma schools. A lot of the girls coming from those states would be legacies and/or have a positive attitude towards theta because of the reputation Theta has back home.
Also, since Theta existed at uark from 1966 to 1989, many alumni are still alive and in the area and would be supportive of recolonization.

^I don't disagree but still...name recognition is a big factor for a new house and among sec schools/big greek schools theta doesn't have it

Agreed but at the same time, a lot of girls who end up going to Uark were also interested in UT austin, SMU, TCU, OU, Okstate, etc. All of these have theta chapters which have done well. Yes, Theta is spotty in the SEC, but a lot of PNMs only know the reputations of sororities at big 12 schools.

Delta Zeta
Alpha Gamma Delta
Gamma Phi Beta
Alpha Phi
Kappa Alpha Theta
Just getting two of these would be so good for Arkansas!

Theta is not great at any SEC school except UGA. They are mid at UF. They are low, don’t exist, or closed at the others. They are good in Tx and Ok, where a lot of our students are from.

Sorority chapters are individual entities at each school, and a good sorority on one campus can be a not-so-good one somewhere else, and vice versa. Recruitment happens at the chapter level, not nationally, so it doesn't matter how XYZ is somewhere else; if it's a good chapter then it will be a desired house among pnm's. And each school has it's own unique pool of pnm's that conforms to the general type of student and campus culture at that school, so the pnm's don't magically change when a new sorority comes on. A school wouldn't have a sudden influx of more rich girls, or more party girls, or more smoking hot girls, or more Southern girls, or girls with famous parents, or whatever because of a new sorority coming on, it would be the same freshmen as usual. Any new sorority would have to commit a huge amount of resources as far as $$$, expertise, and alumnae commitment to come on here, and be accepted as a good fit between their expectations and those of the current mix of existing sororities; nothing else matters but those things.
