Moms hunting down recs

by: It is cringey?

Is it just me or is it cringey for moms to post on Facebook asking for letters of recommendation for their daughter? I feel like the pnm needs to personally ask alum for these recommendations. I could just be me, but I find it so tacky.

It’s just you.

Moms have a much bigger network.

It's not tacky in the least. This is exactly how recs get done, by identifying sorority women in the network of friends and acquaintances who are willing to help out. Most alums are very happy to do this, because someone did it for them when they went through, and they are glad to know of the opportunity to help their sorority try to get a great girl. Usually the alum will identify herself and then the daughter will make direct contact with her and supply all the needed information or even talk to the alum personally, and send a follow up thank you note to her for doing the rec. If you don't like it then it's nothing to do with you.

I think it’s better to handle it on a more personal level instead of using social media. But that’s just me!

Your take on this suggests that you aren't an alumna of a sorority. Therefore, don't worry about it.
