rushing different chapter as sister
by: wps2018I will be coming to U of A this fall and plan on rushing. My sister is in a house but I don't know if it would be my first choice. Will I even have a chance with other sororities, or will I be cut because they think I will want to join my sister's house? At this point I think I might be interested in Kappa, KD, PiPhi or Zeta.

i went through rush with a sister in house. Yes, it does make rush start and some houses WILL cut you just because they know that you have an in house sister. It is a huge bummer. But be yourself and tell the houses that you visit that you are keeping an open mind, that you're different than your sister, that you're an individual and that you can see yourself in their house! you will end up in the right house with girls that want you to be a part of their sisterhood. although rushing with an in house sister is hard, you will still end up where you are meant to be. good luck!! hope to see you walk through the doors of my house in august.

Some houses cut anyone who is a legacy to another chapter or has a sister in another house. It's very competitive. But the houses you're interested in are the top houses if you add ChiO. ChiO just isn't well like. Kappa, KD Pi Phi and Zeta are all top tier and full of great girls.

Thanks. You said to tell them that I'm open minded. Is this something that they might ask me, knowing that my sister is in a house on campus, or will I have to start this conversation? I know I will have anxiety about rush once it gets here and don't know how easy it will be to work that into a conversation when I'm just getting started in the process. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Just curious, did you end up joining the same sorority as your sister or doing your own thing?
