being honest about getting a bid
by: helperTo the pnms coming in august, connections re what honestly get you a bid. If you're trying to get into a top house(zta, chio, kappa, piphi) and you don't know a single person in the chapter, 9 times out of 10 you wont get a bid. This isn't even including if you do know someone and they have a bad opinion about you, all it takes is for someone to say they don't want you are you're cut. A lot of girls that were very popular in home town got cut from all the tops house and had a really bad rush. Youre reputation and connections matter more than anything. Good luck sorry if you think this is blunt but its the truth

If you want a bid to a top house and don’t have connections like how I didn’t, try to do the following:
-Interact a lot with their instagrams, follow members and like their pics
-get a good recommendation from someone in your community, they don’t have to know you super well but if they do that helps
-clean up your insta, have cute posts. Idk how much this matters but it can’t hurt
-leadership,volunteer hours, and gpa really matter.
-unfortunately looks do matter to some extent
-If you click with a member and they really like you then they’ll pull for you so that’s probably the most important thing
-Having some “it” factor that a top house is looking for is true. If you have something that they’re looking for to complete their perfect pledge class that they haven’t already found, then they will want you.

Do you know how many people with strong resumes are in my house including me? Not in one of those four. I had a 3.86 and lots of leadership, volunteer ect…. I was cut from all but one of those the first night and then the one I had left cut me the night before pref. So congrats but for real your situation is rare. Those like myself from out of state with great resumes and no connections usually end up in a mid house and that’s ok!
