sorority question

Really excited to be attending Arkansas next fall but have a questions about recruitment. I am coming from a midwest state and no absolutely won't know any active in a house there.
Do most out of state girls tend to get bids from certain houses? I have a high gpa, activities, leadership, etc so non of that will be a problem. Just wondering if that even matters since I will be coming in not knowing anyone. How will the actives be able to see if I am a good fit? Won't most girls going through rush have all the same as me? Thx

you still have a really good shot! don’t get your sights set on any certain house some houses mainly chi o and kkg are very selective. chi o is almost all in state or legacy girls but there are a select few that they take that aren’t pre selected! as for the others i would say you have a fair shot :) i went into rush as an in state girl with no legacy and a 2.81 gpa and still got a decent house!! :)

I don’t think she meant decent in a negative way! I think if you go into recruitment with an open mind you will be fine! Pi phi may look at you if your resume is stellar and Zeta is a option if your cute and really connect with whoever they pair you with. I am in what some consider a lower house and guess what? It’s doesn’t matter once your on campus! I have lots of friends and have had a blast so far!

I’m judging your “decent” comment too. I’m not in what is considered a “top” house but it’s definitely top in my eyes - not just “decent”.

If what you say is true about your accomplishments, then set your sights on Tri Delta or Kappa Delta. Both are equally great, and considered “top” of the ones you don’t need connections to get into.
Forget about KKG, chi o or Pi Phi. Let them have their high school friends.

I’m from the Midwest and knew no one who went here. It seems you have the “resume”
(Activities, grades etc) so as long as you keep your social media clean and have social skills you will end up in a great house for you! It’s not a stressful and you think with all the preparation

I was basically same as you and didn’t know anything about houses going into rush, and ended up in a “very selective” “top house”. Im told I had an amazing resume and good grades. You have click with a member during rush and have a very memorable convo, or have some certain quality they’re looking for I guess.

This. It's true that connections are helpful with the "top" houses, but it's also true that every year, the "top" 3-4 houses take pnms with 0 connections but great resumes and convos.

You got a "decent house" because all the houses here are great. It's all about best fit and every house offers a very similar and exceptional sorority experience. Far more alike than different.
