System should change
by: AmberI think the system needs to be changed. From someone in a mid house that actually ranked kappa very low the first night ( for acting like they could care less to talk to me) it makes me so irritated to see them come on here and still rank themselves first. Many girls in my group did not like them and even though they want to brag “they swept” it’s only because they were told to cut pretty much everyone that wasn’t on their list the first night just like chi o. Chi o I understand more because they were founded here, have a theater named after them ect…. So I can see pnm’s ranking them high repeatedly during the week ( unless they were rude or something). Seeing kappas pledge class and knowing how many of us did not like them or see anything special about them at all at all I feel like the system needs to be changed. Let all houses cut the same amount first night. This way there weren’t be the “wow you still have kappa on your schedule” that made them seem much more desirable than they actually are. They would get cut by many 100 percent. No way would they be a top house at any other school. I was cut by all four top houses the first night but kappa was the only one I would say is super undeserving of a top house rank.

Or it could be they were just hateful af. Which is exactly what they were to many. I know it’s a lot to ask to act like a decent human for a short zoom call for kappa and chiO so I understand. Just glad the other 9 houses could do it.

The only rule is that a sorority MUST CUT AT LEAST the number they are given and not one less. It is perfectly allowable under NPC rules to cut more. Sorry if this doesn't fit your reasoning but it's true.

I am initiated and yes having the top houses cut more the first night does create the illusion of being more desirable or more difficult to get into which increases their value. It’s basic economics. Supply and demand. Pretty simple

Then the cuts would come on 2nd or 3rd round, and that's even worse. Leading PNM's to believe they have a chance at a house where they actually do not is a terrible thing to do and the way it used to be before RFM. What happened then was PNM's would get invited back to houses where they actually had no chance while eliminating houses from their schedules where they actually did have a chance. The cuts before pref were awful and many, many PNM's were then dropped completely, having no other choices left. The cuts WILL come, so it is FAR better to release PNM's early and let them get on with focusing on the other houses where they actually have a chance.

Still there seems like there needs to be a better way or ranks will always stay the same. Not fair to the other houses. That’s like Panhellenic basically telling the pnm’s these are the top houses
