Number of pnms this year

by:

I saw that 1981 girls signed up to rush so I was wondering if there is only a certain amount of girls allowed in each sorority???

They will give each chapter a number they have to cut and how many they will have in their pc class. UARK does really good about trying to get each girl into a house it may not be your number 1 or evem your number 2 but they do try really hard. Most of the girls that dont get a house chose to drop in the middle of the week because they weren’t happy and didnt want to give a lower perceived house a chance! Go in positive

They will take the number of PNM’s in the system on Pref and divide it by 11. That number is quota...the number each chapter can take.

Divide by 11 for the 11 sororities

it’s not just that number divided by 11, BUT most girls will find a house!! don’t drop! stick it out and you’ll be happy

This is not correct. Chapters with higher retention rates (Chi O/Kappa/Pi Phi) are required to take fewer members because the idea is that they will keep all those new members for the next 4 years. Other houses will have to take more members because they will have more girls drop out, so you have to make up for the numbers that way. For example, when I rushed I think Chi O took around 95 and my house took around 115. It’s not a big difference, but no, not all houses will take the same number of girls. The number will go up for everyone though this year as we have 200+ more PNMs than last year

Hey Truth…..get with the times! Variable quota is a thing of the past; it was done to help DG get on their feet as the newest on campus. It is equally divided now.

The only difference in PC size is due quota additions where they hand place the PNMs who the computer dropped through the bid matching process. There should be less than a 10 person difference in PC size for all houses now.

APPROXIMATE NUMBERS

The trend has been 93-94% bid rate for U of A Panhellenic as a whole the last few years. 1981 registered = 1842 approx getting bids & divided by 11 chapters is 167 new members for each chapter

The vast, vast majority of the 7% who don't get bids have withdrawn or dropped out of recruitment. Every PNM with an open mind can find her tribe!

No, it is not just divided by each chapter. Chapters with high retention will take much less girls than other chapters. This is what makes it even more difficult to receive a bid to top houses

Arkansas used to have variable Quota a few years back which meant that some chapters with higher returns/priorities took fewer new members on Bid Day. Now it is on the regular system, which means you take the number left at Pref and divide it by the number of chapters for Quota. Some houses might get more in additions. This is how it works.

So say 1800 go to Pref. Divide that by 11. Quota would be around 163 for every chapter. Some will take more due to quota additions.

There is not a predetermined set amount of girls allowed in each sorority. The more PNM's in recruitment means more will get bids. Quota is only determined after Pref: the number of PNM's signing cards after pref divided by 11 = the number each house can take, BUT Quota Plus kicks in and will put some houses over Quota. A PNM who puts both her pref houses on her card (or just the one if that's all she's got) is GUARANTEED a Bid! Not necessarily her first choice but a Bid nonetheless. If you only put one out of two houses on your card then you may or may not get that bid.

I didn’t think Arkansas guaranteed a bid if you “play fair”

A pledge class of 160+ seems like a disservice to the PNMs and the chapters. Pnms won’t have the tight knit closeness and chapters will be overwhelmed trying to give each pnm the best experience after Bid Day. People are bound to fall through the cracks. I hope we can colonize more houses sooner than later and get back somewhere less than 100 one day.
