Yes. If you don’t know anyone and you don’t already think you have a bid to a top house by now, you probably will not get one

Unfortunately you will be cut from Kappa, Chi O and Pi Phi on night one. Not personal, but they already have their bid lists set and ready.

If your grades are stellar look at Tri Delt and KD. Both take super smart girls that don’t have the inside connections needed for the “top 3.”

I get so tired on the fixation on “top” houses. This only means they’re more established/been on campus longer - it does not mean they are better!!!

You will get in a house. Keep open mind and go in every day looking at what you have not what you lost

I was a farrrrr out of state girl with no connections who rushed one of the “top houses” on campus that people say is unrushable without strong connections. It is possible. Don’t listen to a lot of these people.

tbh if a “top” house already has a list even before rush happens and they cut majority the first night without even taking people

Problem is, “top” houses can be very insular - if you bust through the “no connections” barrier, you could find yourself in a pledge class filled with “connected” girls who know or know of each other, many of whom went to the same schools and camps, who cheered/danced/played sports with and against each other, etc - it can honestly be exactly like going to a new high school where you don’t know anyone, because for a lot of girls “top” houses are extensions of their high school networks. They’re not in it for some lofty ideal of sisterhood or to expand their horizons - their goal in recruitment is to have their existing sisterhood certified, so to speak.

And the girls planning and leading all your new member stuff may have the same mentality - again, it can be very cloistered. There’s a real risk of being an outsider in your “top” house. Or it may work out great and you make lifelong friends! Just please keep an open mind, and don’t get too hung up on “top” designations. Good luck!
