Connections?????
by: ?Do connections really matter during rush? Do they matter more than grades do? I’m reading so much on this sight and it’s so confusing.

to be honest, rush can be a lot about who you know. that being said, you’re going to find your place no matter what! you can always try making connections by reaching out on insta! if you’re going for a “top” house it may be difficult if you don’t know anyone. all of the houses are great and if you have an open mind you’ll do just fine :)

Why go where you have connections? Branch out and find a new group in college! I did and it’s the best thing I ever did!

Connections matter 100%. If you have a good GPA it’s just a check off the list of requirements to invite you back, but keep in mind MOST PNMs have very high GPAs. And for anyone with a really low GPA you better start making connections, because no house wants grade risks. And also, high school isn’t that hard so if your GPA is low it’s pretty clear you weren’t focused on school (which is actually the point of college - not rushing)

Connections matter more than your resume for top houses but you still need atleast 3.4 to not be cut. Focus on the other houses. I promise you there is no difference once your here. I wish we did second semester recruitment. It would really be different rankings if we did.

Connections matter for chi o, kappa, zeta and pi phi. Well maybe a little less for zeta. I think I got cut because I did have a connection! Anyway you can always reach out on insta. Connections won’t be as big of deal after that but it will always help! In my case I had a connection that didn’t like me 😬
