First round grade cuts

I've heard the top 4-5 houses release most pmns with less than a 3.5 gpa after the first round. Is this accurate? I know the houses compete for the academic award each semester, so I figured this is probably true.

nervous about these grade cuts. I have a 3.5, but how likely is it that this cutoff mark will be higher with all these pmns going through?

Larger number of girls going through rush will mean the GPA cutoff will be much higher.
It has to be…that’s the only way to dwindle the numbers the fastest.

What gpa do y'all think is "safe"? Not that they can't cut high gpas for other reasons, but generally.

3.75 or higher would be my safest guess…but I have known several girls get cut from
KKG and Pi Phi with a 4.0. They were out of state girls with zero connections.

Yes…that many PNMs will drive the GPA cuts up.
But, I have known plenty with a 4.0 to get cut also…so there isn’t really a “safe” GPA.

It’s annoying to hear, but trust the process. You have to experience it to understand it.

I’ve heard that the GPA that is used is the GPA that is recalculated by the admissions office. It will fall somewhere between the weighted and unweighted GPA, depending on AP, dual credit classes etc. Where can we see the actual GPA being used by the sororities forget recruitment?

Call the admission office and ask what GPA they have listed for you. I did that last year. It was in between my weighted and unweighted.

Don’t go thinking it’s only top houses that will cut bad GPAs!! Heard DG will be cutting anyone below 3.4 this year

If even dg cuts under a 3.4, how many pmns will be released from recruitment on the first night? I heard that the top houses usually need to be at 600 after the first night. There’s more pmns this year, so I guess that number could be higher. Still, that’s a lot of girls to release.

had a 3.3 in HS and a 31 on the act. some connections. ended at the top two houses in pref. just be genuine and build real connections with people and you will end up where you are meant to be.

while this may be true, the harsh reality is that only a small handful of pmns under a 3.5 will make it that far, connections or not.

connections are vital for some houses if you have under a 3.5. there are minimum gpas some of the houses can accept. I've heard some cannot go under a 3.25.
