Sororities&being wealthy?

by:

I’ve been reading posts on here/ heard that say top houses prefer wealthy girls/ you’d feel more comfortable there if you were wealthy. How would they know your financial situation? Is it a plus if I own golden gooses, David yurman etc.? Or do they not actually care? Just curious, thanks!

Several things:

1. It's not that you need to be rich, it's that it helps reassure sororities you can pay your dues. There are plenty of wealthy girls in ALL chapters including bottom tier like AOII, and there's plenty of scholarship and average girls in ALL chapters including Kappa/Chi O. On that note I think Kappa is supposed to have one of the highest dues.

2. No sorority is going to pick you just because you have golden gooses or whatever. They picked you because of your GPA + connections if it's top tier, and personality (maybe GPA) if it's everyone else.

3. Join a sorority because you like what they stand for, felt comfortable with the girls in their chapter and believe they can bring out the best in you. Don't try join a chapter because they want people for superficial reasons like what shoes they wear. That's not a sisterhood - that's just sad.

4. It's been said a million times before, but I'll say it again: Kappa & Chi O already know who they want. It's a connections/legacy game - if you aren't well connected to them and have a high GPA, start looking at other chapters.

5. Just because you want a chapter, doesn't mean you'd fit in there. There's several posts on here where someone was swept up by the popularity of being top tier and regretted it. If you have to change yourself to fit in, that's not the right place for you, and you'll have to keep being fake to try to fit in thereon after - which will get exhausting I promise you.

Just be yourself and land where you do.

I think they look at your Instagram and can tell from that. For example, do you take summer vacations in Italy or Paris, or is Seaside the best your family could do?
Wealthy people hang out with people like them. If you can’t relate to that, then look at more “normal” chapters.
If you manage to get into Kappa or chi o and aren’t truly like them, you will feel so incredibly left out.

I agree to not make it about money, but it’s important to know if you will fit in or not with a certain sorority. A “normal” girl who has both parents that work full time and don’t take elaborate vacations or have the money to spend (waste) on golden goose shoes, but have enough money to send you to college and pay for a sorority should not even consider kappa or chi o…or really pi phi.
If you’re offended by this comment, then you are one with gobs of money and don’t understand what I’m saying.

Can someone define what Rich is? How much do one's parents need to make to be rich? I see this on this site all the time...this Frat is Rich guys or that Sorority is full of Rich girls. Can someone put an # to this question?

The Pioneer Woman’s daughter, Paige is a Kappa. Her net worth is “roughly 50 million.”
Obviously she’s the exception. I don’t know if there is an actual number. Just look around on Instagram…pay attention to what you’re looking at. It’s not hard to tell.
