UARK Greek Life pulled a scam on new members
by: Disillusioned new memberI recently accepted a bid from a sorority. I’m getting the feeling that all UARK Panhellenic/sororities wanted was our money. I’m so disappointed. We can’t have any real sisterhood events and it’s next to impossible to meet older members of the sorority and even fellow pledges. In my sorority we aren’t even allowed to be in the house. Had been looking forward to CFF but can’t even go there. Wish I had not even gone through recruitment. It’s such a waste of money for how little we are getting out of it.

Dangggg I feel sorry for the new members. It’s just not right. I don’t know what the answer is though. Putting off recruitment till next year and trying to go through with the 2021 class would have ensured prob 80 percent of you guys didn’t get a bid. Spring recruitment? Will things be better by spring? Will the dorms and sorority houses even be open?? I agree though the fees need to be WAY reduced. So so sorry guys. I am a sophomore and HATE this. I can cry just thinking about all that is being missed. Sitting on a Thursday night and doing nothing??? Like what even is this

What sorority doesn’t have to pay a dime until initiation?!! The whole thing sucks, and all these parties off campus are going to get us all sent home!

That’s not what my mom was told. During the parents meeting she was told we had to pay in September!

I’m glad we did it. It’s something I’ve been excited about for years. It sucks that I haven’t had a chance to meet many of my new sisters, but the ones I’ve met have kept in constant communication with me and made me feel very welcome and included. Who is to say that postponing would have been better? Things could be worse in January but I hope not! Honestly being part of my sorority is one of the few things I have to look forward to right now. All classes remote so not meeting anyone there. I will be paying my own dues too so that also sucks but at the end of the day, I’m happy about it. I was prepared to pay dues, prepared that things would not be normal, but hopeful that they will be in the near future. Thankful for my sorority and the girls I’ve met and will meet because of it!

Are you really that self absorbed that you would get on Greek rank and post your disappointment that you don’t get to do anything. You do know what’s happening in the world around you...right? Yeah. It sucks. But honey it ain’t about you. Get over it. And if people would just chill out maybe we can stop the spread and get back to a more normal campus life
