Please be honest, would love actives input...

by:

I am really skeptical on how much we PNM's are actually going to be able to do this year. I've heard if you dont live in the house they dont want you over there right now anyway (and these are actual members). I am hearing we wont have any events, or even dinners at the house. I kinda feel like they want our money but we wont get much in return for it. I'm wondering if it's best to drop Rush and wait until Spring or next year. I dont feel like I've really gotten to know anyone in the houses. I would love some honest input on if anything will actually be happening for us newbies this year?

Hi I’ll be a junior! I really understand not wanting to waste your time and money on all this, but here are my thoughts. I think that the houses will allow members to come hang out in the house in a few weeks when things have cooled down, my house told us they want us to come and utilize the spaces to study and hang with sisters (safely!). Unfortunately no houses will be offering any meals this semester for out of house girls. I haven’t heard it confirmed that there will be no functions, but that is a possibility. I will say, a lot of chapters have done small sisterhoods (movies, spa nights, game nights, yoga) which are all great ways to meet new sisters. I promise your chapter isn’t going to leave y’all in the dust, they really do love and care for you and want you to have as much of a normal experience as possible. You’re so close to being done with rush and you’ve already paid for it so I think you should stick with it and see who is on your bid card! Usually you have a little time before you have to pay dues so that might give you a better idea if that’s the house for you. If not, you can still drop! Good luck, pan love, stay safe!

I wonder if they will take off the meals on the dues they posted?

While I won’t say what my chapter is, I can confirm that they did lower our dues a fair amount to account for no meals

A lot of the houses had the meal plan listed in the dues they sent us. Some houses may have taken it off the list, but I know a lot of them didn’t. Hmmm...guess we’ll see.

Totally fair question. I’m a little nervous too about what this year is going to look like. But from what I’ve heard, to go through recruitment as a sophomore is pretty difficult, limits your choices a lot. So I’m going to stick with it and enjoy whatever this year brings! Can’t wait to go to my house tomorrow and finally meet some of the members in person and get freshman year started!!!!

i’m a fresh new member on another campus and i can tell you right now we aren’t allowed to do anything. only girls who live in the house can go to the house. all events are virtual including initiation. i understand it might be different for you but i highly doubt it.

I know this stinks, for all of us! But what I will promise is that the girl I am paired with tomorrow will be taken under my wing and shown the love of our sisterhood! I will do everything in my power to include her. Lunch, dinner, shopping, whatever! It’s hard to feel like you’re part of the house at first in a normal year and this one will be even harder! I challenge you all to do the same!

hi, so my house will be doing take-out dinners where you can basically come pick it up and we might be doing dinner with different times where people can come. As of right now we don't have functions planned, but we are having sisterhoods that comply with the house/room capacities (with masks). I promise that even though this year will have less in person events, the actives will make sure y'all feel at home.

Keep in mind too that not all actives got to participate in recruitment for our houses. So there are still SO many other actives to meet, and we can’t wait to meet you!
