Trust the process

by: Freshman

I swear, if I hear the words
“Trust the process, it works” one more time I will scream. That’s easy for a girl that got her top choice to say. I’m happy with the 2 middle of the road houses that I have left, but my roommate and best friend is devastated. She’s only got one house left and it was one she had disliked from the beginning. She said it’s like a slap in the face when she hears that phrase. Makes her feel kind of worthless......and I get where she is coming from. Have heard a girl in my gamma chi group say the same thing. The truth is that the process doesn’t always work and some great girls can and do fall through the cracks.

All I can say is that every house is filled with actives who also went thru and received harsh cuts- so many wonderful girls who also had strong resumes full of leadership and top grades topped off w beautiful hearts. Many of the actives are in houses that were not on their radar at the beginning but now can not see themselves in another house. Being in a newer house does not mean you are a bottom tier person! There may be more leadership opportunities available-
The chapters are more alike than different.

This whole process has been like using Tinder swipe right and hope for a match then chat a bit just to find out the person on the other end isn’t who you thought. Recruitment should have been put off until spring! I think so many girls got the shaft through the online process.

Take it from girls who know and see it ever year. Recruitment can be tough, it just is. Please don’t let it define you or your friends because it doesn’t! It wouldn’t have been different by being in-person and in the Spring so don’t let that take over your thinking process. You and your friends can still COB. Sometimes that is just a better way for some to join a house. You may not have as many options but the opportunity is still there.

Coming from a top tier house even I know trust the process is such a bull crap phrase! The process sucks big time but it’s all we have. I agree in person recruitment most likely would not have changed where the pnm ends up.

I had my heart on two houses due to their amazing philanthropy and now I only have one house left. They have a great sisterhood, but I am not attached to their philanthropy like my top houses.

A great sisterhood makes working together on a philanthropy that much better, no matter the cause!
Sisterhood truly should be a PNM’s #1 evaluation barometer. You’re in a good spot.
