Do any pnm’s wanna rush mid-low houses?

by:

I’m rushing this fall and idk if it’s just me but does any other pnms also want to rush mid-low houses?? I just feel like all the top houses get such a bad rep, and don’t actually care about the philanthropy aspect. Plus the mid-low houses seem to have a really good sisterhood bond and don’t give bids based on stupid stuff such as Instagram feeds and how wealthy you are.

some of the top houses (cough kappa cough chi o) seem really cliquey to me since they are connections based, and everyone already knows each other from high school.

I agree, top houses definitely give off a cliquey vibe.

I agree but the only top houses that give off that rep are kappa and chi o so im looking at the other top houses and the mid tier ones

It’s usually a usually a top house that wins for most money raised for their philanthropy. Tri delt and zeta both do well in that category. I tend to agree kappa and chi o can be clique and it’s high school part two. I think the other three zeta, pi phi and tri delt have girls from all over and are less connections based. Girls you can’t go wrong in any house here! I am in a mid tier and very happy!! If I did have an opportunity to be in a top house after being on campus for a year it would be either zeta or tri delt, but I also don’t know any pi phi’s so I am sure they have some great girls as well. And hey if you get cut from all five like I did I promise my sorority along with others will welcome you! Good luck!

Yes!!!! I said this on another post! I thought I was weird to think like this but I just feel like I’ll connect better with girls in mid-lower houses. They seem down to earth. I’ve got my eye on the alphas - adpi, aopi, and axo!!! They’ve all been so sweet!!!!!

I have recently fallen in LOVE with DG based off social media. They are my first choice currently and I know they aren’t considered a top house.

I have no connections to the top houses so I know I’m going to be cut immediately. I read that we rank the sororities, not cut. Should I go ahead and rank the top houses last so hopefully I have more options left with the others?

No it won’t matter either way. Rank exactly the order in which you like the houses. First of all you don’t want to eliminate any possibilities for yourself if you actually liked the house cuz even if it’s a long shot, it’s still a shot. Second if your not on their list then your cut by them without it affecting who invites you back. Does that make sense? So no matter what go into the rankings as if everything is possible and rank exactly how you feel about the houses:)

If it makes you feel better, you can do that, but it really doesn’t matter. I really encourage you to research the national organization’s values & the chapter’s vibe and pay zero attention to ranks or tiers when choosing who to release.

A couple examples......For Convo round when you are watching the intro videos, you will list your favorite 8 houses and then rank #2, #3 & #4. The chapters will turn in their invites & you will be required to attend all parties that you are invited to up to a maximum of 8. If you get invites to 4 parties, you will go to all 4. It doesn’t matter if two were in your top 8 and two were ranked to release. Or if you do happen to get a full party list of 8, it is also very likely that 3 of your favorites didn’t invite you back, so you get all three from your release list. I don’t know of anyone that had a unicorn party list that was a full 8 parties of their 8 favorite houses. My Gamma Chi group only had 2 girls with full 8 party list and they both included some of their released houses.

Your released chapters has ZERO affect on having “more options left with the others”. The options you have are 100% based on which chapters invite you to attend each round. The only time your releases are taken into consideration is if you have more invitations than available parties to attend. (If you get 7 invites to 5 party Sisterhood, you will not attend the last two on your list.).

Unfortunately, the chapters have the balance of power in the “mutual” selection process until it comes down to signing your preference card. That is where you have a little more say-so. (But you can still get your 2nd choice - I did & LOVE my chapter.)
