You are right “”love” is the fear of truth” I have not had any personal experience with the mistreatment of poc because I am white.I am an independent women and can make my own decisions, and no matter how harsh the words are that come out of people’s mouth or how many news sources I read will dictate how I feel. Poc are being treated unfairly. These movements and protests are a meer symbol of what’s been occurring for hundreds of years to this day. It is not right, I understand that. But I also know that my words only stretch but so far. I want to be able to grow, and I want to learn how to make people feel more included in society. That is my goal, I’ve never been great with words but this is something I’m very passionate about. My family is biracial and while I haven’t experienced their pain first hand, I have been their to witness it. Ive acknowledged your opinions towards my post, I hope you have a great evening.

A few things I know about Greek Life and POC
DG’s President (forgive me I can’t remember her name) was the first Black President of a Panhellenic sorority at UArk
DG and AOII removed their legacy policies, which means they’re allowed to cut legacies instead of being required to keep them to the next round. This can help POC make it through cuts as most legacies are obviously white and POC have not had the opportunity to be a legacy.
Panhel has been in talks with not Panhellenic chapters and wants to do workshops, functions, and seminars with them to strive for Greek Unity.
AXO (and I hope more, but I’m not sure) has a cultural chair who speaks on issues such as cultural appropriation and how sororities can host events without culturally appropriating a group.
In the end it comes down to the number of girls that rush. If 1500 girls rush and only 50 of them are POC, that’s just not a lot of girls to push houses into being a more “diverse” house. If a POC rushes a house, she’s still going to be a member of a PWO. And I think that’s why it is so difficult for WOC to rush Pan sororities. Because they would rather rush AKA or DST or ZPB because they would feel more included there. That is not to say they aren’t WANTED in a PWO, it just seems like anyone of any color would want to go somewhere that they feel comfortable and more accepted. I hope we can figure out a way to show POC that Panhellenic is not a bunch of rich white girls and instead we would benefit from having POC in our chapters to show us things we’ve never known about because we are predominantly white.
I’m sorry if that didn’t make sense, I tried really hard but I can’t always find the words.
