Should I be looking at ranks/ I need guidance.

Hi! I’m rushing in the fall and when I was googling about the chapters on campus I came across this website. I’m from out of state, and don’t have very many friends. A lot of the sorority reviews are kinda bad, and the ones that I like (through instagram, YouTube etc.) are seen as “bottom houses”. Does any of this matter, is there really a ranking, does being in a bottom house mean anything? I’m looking for honest answers. I don’t know what bottom house means and what’s the “criteria” for it. I just wanna join a sorority that is accepting of me, because I am kinda shy and need a push to make friends and get involved. What sororities are most involved, or even what do each sororities do for fun/ get involved in. I’m a little lost in it all and looking for guidance. Thanks:)

First, I promise you Greek life is not nearly as divided as it appears on GR. Recruitment will blow over soon and no one in your classes will care what house you’re in. If they do, then hey you know that wasn’t the right house for you anyways. Besides, most frat boys can’t tell the difference either. Second, there is no objective answer to what sorority is the most involved. Take a look at their social medias and see which ones are doing things in their community/promoting their philanthropy/showcasing their success in grades, their majors etc. and you’ll get an idea of what they represent.

I agree with everything stated above! In my opinion, PNMs should really stay away from this site. It tends to be nothing but a small handful of girls battling back and forth. Every rank listed on this site is bias, and quite frankly untrue. Last year, I was a PNM and am in a house that is seen as a top tier house one day on this site and then a bottom tier the next. In reality, I’ve never experienced anything like this site says. Greek life is supportive of other chapters. I’ve met best friends inside and outside of my house because of Greek life. Please do not let a small handful of girls on this site take away an amazing experience. I know this is a cliche but enter into the process with an open mind. See where you feel like you can be the best version of you!

Coming from a girl in a bottom house and most likely the house from YouTube you’re referring to, it really doesn’t matter to most people here the tier of your house. Like someone above said, boys really don’t know the difference most of the time and if they have an opinion they’re just repeating what everyone is telling them about sororities. When I rushed I wanted a top house like everyone else does but ended up in a lower tier but I really love it. The best way to get involved is to join the groups/committees for things you’re passionate about. For me that is all things homecoming!!! For some girls that’s recruitment or philanthropy or social media, and the easiest way to make friends is to befriend the girls on those committees with you!!
