Rush Advice Please

by:

I’m a in state transfer student with a 3.3 college gpa, some pretty good rec letters from recent graduates of U of A, a few loose connections to houses, I was extremely involved on my campus, I have no Greek life in my family so I have no opinions or persuasions to one house. What are my honest bid chances? Do sororities look at college gpas different from high school because let’s be honest a 4.0 in college is not even in the same ballpark as a 4.0 in high school. I’m not a drop out risk because I’ve already got one degree and clearly can handle college curriculum. Opinions.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like if you already have a degree you may be a bit older. Sororities tens to want freshman so they have ppl in there the whole 4 years. Your GPA is a bit low and while I agree that college GPA is different from high school, unless every girls sees your resume, they may not realize that and will assume it’s high school. This is not to discourage you just to point out some challenges. I think it is well worth it to rush and see if you like it, maybe if you aren’t offered a bid you can do COB! Definitely give it a shot and good luck!!

What is a COB?

Continuous Open Bidding! It is the period after rush that houses who didn’t meet quota or who had members drop can extend a bid to girls who are interested without going through formal recruitment. DG, AOPi, AXO, Phi Mu typically participate in COB. Some also participate in spring COB. The best way to do COB is reach out to members and tell them you’re interested and you’ll get invited to small events to meet the members and they will decide if they want to extend a bid!

Uh my high school was much harder to get a 3.4 than college, college is way easier than some texas highschools, but regardless top sororities drop 3.4 and below

You will get a bid but highly unlikely it will be from one of the top five. Good luck to you though!
