new to u of ark... help!

by: LivTruman

Hey everybody! I'm a freshman at a four year university, have recently changed my major, and have officially made the decision to transfer to U of Ark! Seems like a great atmosphere, and I could not be more excited! With that said, I'm trying to figure out what my best option would be for going greek and being a part of a sorority. More than likely, I'll be transferring at the semester, but if not at the semester-- definitely for next Fall. Given my circumstances, would trying to COB in the spring be plausible at all? And if not, would rushing as a sophomore be fairly difficult? I'm not getting my hopes up on any houses specifically... I know every house has something awesome to offer to any girl, so I'm definitely not biased! I just didn't know if going greek would still be a possibility given me being a transfer and quite possibly trying to COB as a second semester freshman, or rush formally as a sophomore. Any thoughts or suggestions? Sorry, I know this is long, but I just wanted some advice!

Thanks so much, and can't wait to be a Razorback!

Don't listen to the girl above. Try rushing! I believe every girl needs to give it a shot! Yes, the process of recruitment is very judgmental, but reason being is because every sorority wants the best girls and best pledge class. Be open minded and BE YOURSELF! You honestly do belong where you're put! So excited for you to come to Arkansas! Best decision of your life WPS!

All but 2 or 3 houses took at east 1 sophomore in their pledge class this year and last. I rushed as a sophomore and I love my sorority. COBing is a good option, but it is hard to get a COB unless you know girls in one of the few houses that will issue COBs. However, you don't have to know girls to get a bid in spring. Give it a try. Best of luck to you!

Also, there are several minority girls of representing every race in panhellinic sororities at the UofA including top houses. Don't let that get you down
