confused about pref

by:

does being invited to pref mean the sorority wants to give you a bid, & is it possible to not get a bid from either of the houses that invited you to pref

Going to a houses preference party does not guarantee you a bid. But if you have two houses left, it is very likely you will get a bid. Some campuses guarantee you a bid if you make it to this point. Arkansas does not guarantee that you will get a bid. Most girls will get a bid so don’t stress!

Last year my Gamma Chi said that we are not guaranteed a bid even if we ranked both houses and avoided suiciding. It’s HIGHLY unlikely you not get a bid at that point but I thought it was technically possible

This is incorrect^. If you have 2 houses on pref, you go to both parties, and you rank them both on your pref card (don’t suicide bid) then you are guaranteed a bid to one of the houses, maybe not your first choice. At no other point during recruitment are you guaranteed a bid. Again, you are only guaranteed a bid after pref if you do NOT suicide bid (putting only one house on your pref card)

If you utilize ALL your options the entire week it is highly unlikely you would not get a bid. The girls that we see leaving during the week mostly left because they thought they were too good for the houses left on their schedule. Unfortunate as all sororities have quality girls.

One more thing..... sororities that invite you to pref would like for you to be a part of their sisterhood. They “rank” the pnms at this point say 1 to 200. If the quota is 100 and your ranked 145 then you would only get a bid from them if 45 girls put them second on their list. It’s actually a bit more complicated than that but that’s the easiest explanation. So yes it would be sad if you don’t get your first choice when you rank them after your pref parties but it also doesn’t mean they didn’t want you. If you were invited to pref then they saw something special in you :)
