pnms - I hope this helps

by: Active

While I can’t say for certain how things will work this year, I thought I’d share some info that may help.

1. There’s no need to be nervous. Try to relax and be yourself. Truth is, actives are nervous too because they want you to like them and the house they love so much.

2. You don’t make cuts, the houses do. Each round you will rank the houses in order of preference. After first round you will have a max of 8 houses left on your schedule. However, this doesn’t mean that the house you ranked last won’t be one of those.

3. Give each house an honest chance. I guarantee you that some you don’t expect to like will thoroughly impress you and change your mind.

4. Be respectful to each house. Do not act like you’re too good to be talking to them because you think you’ve got a top house wrapped up. (You don’t)

5. There are “top house” quality girls in each house. You will find pretty, smart, fun, etc girls in all houses.

6. Don’t be disappointed when you are cut by what you thought was your favorite. This now gives you the opportunity to have an open mind and honestly look at other options. Shake it off and move forward.

7. Use your week wisely. You will be with other freshmen girls so you have a great opportunity to make new friends, even if they land in a different house from you.

8. Enjoy the experience. While it won’t be the same this year, make the most of it. You’ll be thankful on the rainy, 200 degree days that you’re not having to walk to a ton of houses.

We are excited and hope you are too! Each ERC is working hard to make this the best possible experience for each of you. We can’t wait to talk to you virtually and hopefully meet you in person!! WPS!

Love this and such great advice!! Trust the process!!! I’m currently in a house that I would have ranked low on the first day of recruitment and I couldn’t be happier with my choice!!

So after first round, I’ll have been cut by 3 houses. Or more? What if I’m cut by more?

You may be cut by more and what you do is look at the ones you have left with "fresh eyes".

You can have a max of 8 houses left, but most girls don’t have that many. Personally I had 5. I think most girls in my group had 6 or 7

I’m more worried about social injustice and a pandemic that has killed thousands. The privilege of the people involved in this process is not something I care to be associated with. I will not be participating.

Members of sororities also share your passion for social injustice and care greatly that we are all living thru ( or in some cases dying) a pandemic as it affects all of our lives. Being a part of a larger organization can often bring a louder voice to the cause. Yes there are some members of privilege and some members who work long hours at their job while they attend school in order to be a part of a sisterhood and have the experience of being in a sorority. I am sorry you feel the need to judge from the outside.

I seriously doubt that peaceful was even going to rush anyway, he or she just wanted to make trouble.

Until you all become more inclusive and offer reduced membership fees to those from low income families I will not support your system.

Greek membership is optional to pursue. Your rhetoric is old and making people turn a deaf ear.

You were never listening and never cared to begin with. Girl, you better stop lying to yourself.

Like many other clubs in the world, fraternities and sororities are businesses and need dues to pay expenses. Maybe you think we should force members to reveal what their parents make and then adopt a system of graduated dues? I don't think so! And not have Greek products for sale because some members can't afford them? I don't think so! Whoever you are, "Thanks", I doubt that we need you.

I quit and I’m happy I did. Not putting my health at risk or anyone else for that matter. Our world is going through so much right now and sorority recruitment is not and should not ever be a priority to anyone at this time! It can wait! Saving lives can not!
