Recommendation Letters
by: PNMHi guys so I’m just wondering - Do rec letters actually have an influence on your rush? I’m coming from out of state with no connections whatsoever but I got recs to almost every house. Would recs prevent me from getting cut by the “top” houses if I also have good grades and involvement? Or do they not matter that much?

Rec letters can only help you! If a sorority is deciding between two girls with the same gpa and involvement but one of them has rec letters and the other doesn't, they would most likely choose the one with rec letters. If you can get them from an Arkansas alumna then that would be best!

The amount that they matter varies per house. Some national offices require every PNM to have a rec turned in before they can issue a bid. I think most chapters at UArk in the past have looked at these recs as a box to check off as completed or not completed. But this year with the increasing possibility of virtual recruitment rounds, they might be looked at more closely.
SOAPBOX: All houses here are great and challenging to get in! Do not make the mistake of thinking you only need these for "top houses". Connections to active members count more than anything regarding getting invited to 2nd/3rd round parties.
Now as far as getting more recs, use Facebook for that. Post a list on your/your mom's page of the houses you dont have recs from yet. Also post on the UARK 2024 parent group page because there are bound to be some moms on there who are sorority alumnae.
