new member feeling out of place
by: new memberi’m having a hard time feeling like i belong in my chapter, i’ve been involved in everything so far and i’m trying really hard to meet new girls and make friends and i have, but i can’t help but feeling like this isn’t my place. i really want to love where i am but i’m feeling discouraged. any advice?

I think it is normal. A lot of girls go it. It can take a bit to find your people if you didn’t pledge with your high school group. Friendships will form, but it can be slower than you want. You can certainly have friends in other chapters along w non-Greek friends. A lot of girls find their close friends going thru recruitment the first time as a active.
So don’t overthink it- just have a good semester and the friendships will form.

Pledged a top house and literally took until the end of my soph year to find “my group”. Before then I had friends in house but no future bridesmaids, stay up all night and talk friends. Senior now and am so thankful I waited it out as I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. It’s great for all those besties who end up together but for us singletons it can take a while. Don’t give up, stay involved, and don’t worry if your friend group shifts the first year or so.
