fall vs spring rush

Hey, I'm a first gen student and still not sure if I want to go with the frat thing. I'm think I'd rather rush until spring.
What's the pros and cons?
I do have close ties (friends) already in most of the "top houses" (according to here) since I'm pretty sociable.
